How does Walrus compare to AO and others?
I'm trying to understand the difference between Walrus and AO. From a functional perspective, how do they compare, especially considering their relationship with Sui and Arweave? Also, how does this comparison extend to Sui and Arweave specifically?
- Walrus

1Walrus and AO are not blockchains themselves but use existing blockchains as their consensus layers. Specifically, AO uses the AR (Arweave) blockchain, while Walrus uses the Sui blockchain. Walrus is designed for decentralized storage of large binary files, using advanced erasure coding for cost-efficient storage, unlike traditional full-replication blockchains. In comparison, AO depends on Arweave for its blockchain needs. Both Sui and Walrus integrate for coordination, availability, and storage payments, with operations managed by smart contracts on Sui.
